Read any book on China’s growth and they’ll usually break out Shanghai’s Pudong area as an example of the staggering pace of development taking place in this country.
We met an expat who arrived in Shanghai in the late 80′s who could remember seeing water buffalo roaming the area. In 1990 the government decided to develop Pudong and it’s now dotted with skyscrapers and a visit makes you feel like you’re in the Jetson’s.
